Alright. First things first. No sympathy, no crying.

MRWILSON raised me. When I was 18, I had no direction. I didn’t feel I really had a purpose. I couldn’t see through transparency. This wall was there. All I could do to get over it was to climb on his back and let him hoist me over. When I was 18, I didn’t know where my life was going to lead me, and frankly couldn’t give two fucks. It didn’t matter. Call this immaturity, what have you, but to me it was just where I was.

Building anything out of nothing is difficult at any age, much less when you’re stuck in adolescency looking for the easy way out. But I tried. And I’m extremely proud where I ended up. Sending out my stupid t-shirts all over the world, to people who got it. People who for the most part were with me. People I could connect to. I felt that with every package I wrote up and sent out the door. I would read your name and really feel it. Who you are, how you found out about this brand, and how you’re going to feel when you receive it. I really wondered if you would feel the connection I had to you too.

I’m 20 now, and later this year will be 21. To me 21 is no doubt all bullshit aside the real age to when you are an adult. Not just because you can start ruining your life with alcohol, but just because of how my situation played out. At age 20 I really feel like I am grown. The old me, who could design for MRWILSON and really truly feel it, is now gone. Leading up to this finale.

As of the end of this month, MRWILSON will be completely disbanded. Not bitterly, not in any fit of me being pissed off I can’t design shit anymore, but for the sole reason that I am at the point in my life now where I’m ready to move on. I can no longer match the original motif and themes I captured in MRWILSON’s designs. To me, MRWILSON was everything I felt when I was 18. MRWILSON was built around what I had going on in my head sort of, and I don’t mean that you can see this obviously when you look at MRWILSON’s graphics, because you can’t. I mean that I can look at stuff I designed and remember how I felt when I did it. And I was usually in some way or another pretty bummed about something. Pushing these stupid t-shirts really helped me out.

What’s most backwards about this situation is that at age 20 I have way worse shit going on in my life now than I did when I was at that age, but when you’re younger shit just feels different. I am completely happy with what I accomplished with MRWILSON. I wouldn’t take it back for the world. I’ve met many many great people, and gained a shitload of experience from it. But I am happy to finally closing the book on this particular chapter of my young life.

I would like to thank each and every supporter we’ve had from Jan. 2010 all the way up to today. I hope to see your continued support in my future endeavors, because death makes room for new life. I’ve been hard at work on something new for myself. It’s 2009 all over again for me. I couldn’t be happier. With the experience I’ve gained from MRWILSON, plus I’m not a whiney teenager anymore, I am beyond excited.

The online store will remain open until March, and of course my Ask box and contact email is always open to those who’d like to pay their respects, hate, and just all around share their input on the matter. Thank you guys.

No matter what, We Live. And I’m still not shit.

'Don't be a Victim' Pullovers

Even though these dropped 2 weeks ago we never actually got around to making a proper blog post about them, and seeing as how they’re one of my favorite drops so far I felt it was necessary. These are the first pullovers we’ve ever dropped and it just felt right they feature a brand new graphic instead of the logo or used graphic from one of our tees. What ‘Don’t be a Victim’ means to us is what it means to us. Interpret it however you’d like. That’s important.

There’s no way I can express through written word, one coherent sentence as to why RIPNDIP is my favorite brand. Everything I’ve come up with so far seems to just come up short. Every aspect of this growing Florida-transplant to LA company is just absolutely great. From the quality of the clothes to the quality of the humans who make it work. To have a brand this good is seriously rare. Usually there’s some things you can nitpick (especially I can) about most brands but I don’t feel like I could find something negative to say about RIPNDIP if I tried my very very hardest.

RIPNDIP’s new Fall line meets any and every expectation you would make from me hyping them up here in this post. I’ve had the honor to design and co-design a couple things in the past for this brand, but please don’t let that make you think this is why I am backing RIPNDIP so much. I’ve been hyped since the very beginning. They put the fun back in skateboarding. They make you take a full step back and realize that you don’t need to take yourself so seriously to get respect in this industry full of self righteous weirdos. Do yourself a favor and submit yourself to RIPNDIP now. They’ll be here for a very very long time.

DERTBAG: Beach Scum

Connecticut-based brand Dertbag has just unveiled their long awaited “Beach Scum” collection. The set is consisted of a collection of warm and cool colors, reminiscent of that of the warm beach and the cool waves, and some hints of acid induced babe searching which leads to seeing Dipset rapper Cam’ron’s face appear on the horizon in Lion King fashion. Along with the release of Beach Scum, which includes six T-shirts and a Tank-top, is the coinciding Beach Scum Lookbook, featuring Phil’s model acquaintance Jack.

The most impressive feat of this small brand based out of 16-year old Philip Post’s Connecticut bedroom is the hype that surrounds his brand. Within the hour of the drop of Beach Scum almost every garment in the collection was sold out immediately. Good luck finding these shirts anywhere. A late night coffee/energy drink lurkathon on eBay might be in order.
